I have followed up this article:it comes to KMS Host Key, what key I should use?If I have to buy a new key, which one I should buy so that I can activate all computers in the domain?FYI, I have not activated my windows 2016 server also I have KMS keys for all operating system I have mentioned above.Thank you,DPatel. When an Office 2013 volume edition client is installed, it will automatically attemptto activate via a DNS-discoverable KMS host on your organization network. There is the download link:(office2016)(office2013)Best Regards,FrankPlease remember to mark the replies as an answers if they help.If you have feedback for TechNet Subscriber Support, contact. Hi,Active Directory-Based Activation only works with Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, and later and it is forest wide. So for Windows 7/2008 R2 and earlier, you’ll still need to maintain those old KMS hosts.More info:You need to install Microsoft Office Volume License Pack for activing Office 2013 and 2016There is the download link:This download contains an executable file that will extract and install KMS host license files. These license filesare required for the KMS host service to recognize Office 2016 KMS host keys. On Windows Server 2012 and volume license editions of Windows 8, you can use your same KMS host key to set up Active Directory-Based activation.Active Directory-based activation of Office 2013KMS host will not activate itself.Best Regards,FrankPlease remember to mark the replies as an answers if they help.If you have feedback for TechNet Subscriber Support, contact. Thank you, Frank. We don't have any KMS server now in production. I am planning to deploy new.My first question is, Our organization has 7000+ computers and most of the computer has windows 7/10 education/ education N operating system.Do I have to use Windows 10 as a KMS host?
-If I do, what key I needed for KMS host machine?-Once we deploy host machine as windows 10, how computers will activate their windows? Do we have to deploy keys some place from where computers can pull keys off from that?I am not worried about Active-directory based activation process because at this point our organization doesn't have windows 8/ server 2012.I have a question on that for future reference,What key we have to use as a KMS host key? -once we install that host key, do all the windows 8 and server machines automatically activate windows or we have to do some advanced settings to have computer activate?Thank you.Respectfully,Dp. Hi,Do I have to use Windows 10 as a KMS host? -If I do, what key I needed for KMS host machine?Of course, you also could configure WS2016 as a kms host.It is a kms host key for Win 10,you need purchase kms host key in vlsc.how computers will activate their windows?
Dowe have to deploy keys some place from where computers can pull keys off from that? How KMS WorksKMS activation requires TCP/IP connectivity. By default, KMS hosts and client computers use DNS to publish and find the KMS service. The default settings can be used, which require little to no administrative action, or KMS hosts and client computers can bemanually configured based on network configuration and security requirements. Please refer to the article below:do all the windows 8 and servermachines automatically activate windows or we have to do some advanced settings to have computer activate? There is a guide for youDeploy KMS ActivationAppendix A: KMS Client Setup KeysBest Regards,FrankPlease remember to mark the replies as an answers if they help.If you have feedback for TechNet Subscriber Support, contact. Hi,Windows KMShost features are 'cumulative down-version'If your current KMS host is based on Win 10, it can already issue activations for:Windows 7Windows 8.1Windows 10More information, please refer to it below:Key Management Service in Windows 10Installing a KMS host key on a computer running Windows 10 allows you to activate other computers running Windows 10 against this KMS host and earlier versions of the client operating system, such as Windows 8.1 or Windows 7. Clients locate the KMS server byusing resource records in DNS, so some configuration of DNS may be required. Hello Frank,I did use AD based activation.
It worked just fine. I installed Volume licensing service on Windows server 2016 host(Not on DC).I deployed Windows 10 KMS host key and it worked well. I was successfully able to activate windows 10 systems after it joins the domain.I followed this blog:have a couple of questions here:1.
Is there a way to find out how many computers have been activated using this AD based activation?2. Some systems are already joined to the domain.
These computers are prompting for windows activation. How can I automate the task to activate those windows computers without putting the generic client key or rejoining it to the domain? Thanks,Dp. Hi,I think VAMT is your request. To allow computers with GVLKs to activate themselves, use the Volume Activation Tools console in Windows Server 2012 R2 or the VAMT in earlier versions of Windows Server to create an object in the AD DS forest. You create this activation object by submittinga KMS host key to Microsoft, as shown in Figure 10. HiI did not understand this how you could activate your Windows 10 or Office 2016 in our environment.
I have never used a KMS before but would like to understand. I only pointed it to a KMS server and build servers for activation. We are using Windows 10 VDI in Citrix and we also have Office 2016 installed on the Windows 10 VDI. I would like to get the licenses activate for my Windows 10, as I see on my Windows 10 OS there is a message on the desktop that shows 'Activate Windows10'.So, what steps should I perform in order to activate it.
