Lastly, it works pretty well with Unity. I like Fuse a little better than MakeHuman for a beginner mostly because there are a lot more clothing options.

I got Fuse for $20 or $25 on sale. I think it is regular $100. You only get two free autorigs per week but that is currently more than enough for me. It is easy to add animations from Mixamo's website but they get expensive quick.It is always good to learn a general modelling program like Blender to customize your model and/or animate.
Programs like Substance Painter make it pretty easy to customize the texturing.
